Play on Jacksonville

While Doug Marrone’s Jacksonville is flying well under the radar entering the 2020 campaign, the case for the unfancied Jags is supported by some compelling evidence into Sunday’s opener vs. Indy at TIAA Bank Field. Especially vs. the Colts, against whom they have won and covered the last four as series host (five if counting the London game in 2016), and now a sparkling 8-1-1 vs. the spread against Indy since 2015. Even with the late downturn in 2019, J’ville still covered in 3 of 4 chances getting six points or more.

Play on Arizona

Don’t look now, but some of the best spread value in the NFL across the past season-plus has been to give Arizona a hard look when playing on the road, as the Cardinals do on Sunday in their 2019 opener vs. the 49ers at Santa Clara. The Big Red is a sparkling 7-1-1 vs. the number as a visitor since late in the 2018 campaign, and enters 2020 on an 11-5-1 spread uptick. Moreover, Arizona has been more than holding its own lately in this series, standing 4-0-1 vs. the line the last five vs. San Francisco, and playing the conference champ Niners to the hilt on both occasions in HC Kliff Kingsbury’s NFL debut a year ago. Note that even in their big 2019, Kyle Shanahan’s SF troops, sometimes overvalued, covered only 3 of 8 regular-season home games at Levi’s Stadium.
